Der dürre Protagonist der Handlung tritt durch die geöffnete Balkontür in unser Blickfeld. Sein Gesicht wird in grotesken Zügen in die Trophäen bildwütiger Touristen gebannt. Die Sicht der dokumentierenden Fotokameras deckt sich dabei mit dem gespiegelten Blick des Protagonisten und unserem eigenen voyeuristischen Blick als Zuschauer. Unerhört werden die grässlichen Schreie auf dem Balkon vom tosenden Arbeitslärm der Stadt verschluckt. Bereits in seinen früheren Filmen hat sich Gentinetta der Sprache als symbolischem Ausdruckmittel vollständig entledigt. In Amok nun scheint sich der Protagonist selbst von der Bilderflut und dem unerträglichen Lärm seiner Umwelt befreien zu wollen. Indem er alle weltlichen Alltagsgegenstände fortschmeisst – und damit allmählich den Lärm erwürgt – begibt er sich auf die Suche nach seinem Innern. Erst nachdem er alle zweckgebundenen oder erinnerungsbehafteten Objekte herauskatapultiert hat, wird Atem und Pulsschlag hörbar. Gleichzeitig versagen die Grenzen zwischen dem Aussen und dem Innen, zwischen der Behausung und dem Körper. Die Wendung nach innen lässt das vormals fassadenhafte Gebäude in einen abgrundtiefen Gang implodieren, dessen Ausgang sich ins Unendliche entzieht. Doch wer meint, sich durch das Abwenden von der Aussenwelt selbst zu finden, irrt: in dem eben eröffneten Innenraum trällert ein Plattenspieler seine abgedroschene Weise. About Amok: Just a normal day in a normal city. The camera turns around a threatening obliquely standing tower which seems to consist out of nothing more than the front wall. On the sole balcony appears a skinny desperate looking man. The painful expressions of his face are being catched by the multiple cameras of bypassing tourists, whereby the gaze of the documenting cameras collapses with the gaze of the spectators and the protagonists own reflected image. The roaring noise of the city swallows the desperate cries. No words provide symbolic messages, worse, the protagonist even tries to get rid of all the pictures, all the noise surrounding him. He starts to throw out of the balcony everything useful, everything reminding him at his history. Bombarding the environment to calm it down. Only after the violent loss of everything that seems to connect him with the outer world appears the sound of his breath, of his heartbeat. At this time the borders between inner and outer world between the house and the body seem to collapse. The space which has been nothing more than a wall implodes into a long corridor, whose exit disappears into the infinite. Das Mietshaus steht irgendwo, vom Wohlstand vergessen, in einer halb verfallenen, grauen Stadt. Aus Hunger jault der Hund herzzerreissend und frisst Fliegen, die von der Alten wie magisch angezogen werden. Jeden Tag verlässt die Alte ihr kleines Heim,um sich nach etwas Essbarem umzusehen. Der Hund bleibt eingeschlossen im Hinterhof zurück. Eine unappetitliche kleine Horrorgeschichte mit viel „Action“. Small dog Poldek lives with a poor old lady in a small one-room apartment. The tenement block is part of a tumbledown grey town out in the nowhere, forgotten by prosperity. The dog is hungry, howles and eats flies that are magically attracted by the old woman. She leaves home every day to seek some eatable stuff. An unsavoury little horrorstory with a lot of action. Le petit chien Poldek vit avec une vieille, pauvre femme dans une petite chambre. L’immeuble se trouve quelque part, délaissée par le confort, dans une ville grise à moitié délabrée. De faim, le chien glapit à fendre l’âme et mange les mouches qui sont attirées par la vieille comme par magie. Chaque jour, la vieille quitte son petit foyer pour chercher quelque chose de comestible. Le chien reste enfermé dans la cour arrière. Une petite histoire d’horreur peu appétissante avec beaucoup d’action.
